Located around kilometer 3 on the Mae Rim–Samoeng Road, the farm served as a center for collecting snake species found in Thailand, a place for breeding and study, and a venue for snake shows presented to visitors.

 

For many travelers, the lasting image of Mae Sa Snake Farm is the thrill of watching snake performances up close, demonstrations of venom extraction, and explanations of different snake species by experienced handlers. Each show lasted around thirty minutes and was memorable for both children and adults, combining education with an unmistakable sense of excitement.

 

For a time, Mae Sa Snake Farm functioned as a popular “stopover spot” for travelers driving along the Mae Rim–Samoeng route before continuing on to Mae Sa Waterfall, the Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden, or other nearby natural attractions. The scheduled showtimes allowed visitors to fit the visit into a short break, offering an experience distinct from typical nature-based attractions.

 

However, as tourism trends and attitudes toward animal performances evolved, combined with economic factors and circumstances over recent years, Mae Sa Snake Farm eventually ceased operations. Today, the site is no longer open to visitors, and snake performances are no longer held as they once were.

 

Although Mae Sa Snake Farm has closed, it remains part of the collective memory of many travelers. It represents a chapter in Chiang Mai’s tourism history and reflects a style of educational animal performances that was once widely popular.
