Namauern Waterfall is located at Ban Namauern, Village No. 12, Chiang Mai Province. It is a large and relatively tall waterfall with water flowing throughout the year, situated within Mae Fang National Park, an important watershed forest area in northern Chiang Mai. The surrounding environment remains highly natural and largely undisturbed, making it suitable for visitors who wish to experience nature in an authentic way rather than simply stopping for photos before moving on.

The highlight of Namauern Waterfall lies in the power of its continuous flow descending from higher elevations into the lower basin. The sound of the waterfall is especially pronounced during the rainy season. The surrounding area is humid and covered with evergreen forest and riparian vegetation that help regulate temperature and maintain ecological balance. As a result, this waterfall is not merely a recreational spot but part of a living water system actively sustaining the Mae Fang forest ecosystem.

From a geographical perspective, Namauern Waterfall is part of a network of small streams that nourish the upper Fang River Basin. Water from higher elevations within Mae Fang National Park gradually flows down toward surrounding communities and agricultural areas in Mae Ai District. This gives the waterfall significance beyond tourism, as it serves as an upstream water source that local communities depend on in their daily lives.

Seasonal changes strongly influence the character of Namauern Waterfall. From May to October, water volume is high and the forest becomes lush and green, making it ideal for appreciating the power of flowing water. However, visitors should be cautious of slippery paths and the risk of flash floods during heavy rainfall. From November to February, the weather is cooler and more comfortable, suitable for nature walks, photography, and spending extended time in the area. During the dry season, water levels may decrease slightly, but this allows clearer views of rock formations, pools, and the natural flow patterns of the stream.

Getting There: Travel toward Mae Ai District via the main routes, then continue into Mae Fang National Park and Ban Namauern, Village No. 12. Most of the route consists of community roads and park access roads. Drivers should proceed with caution, especially during the rainy season and along winding sections of the road.
