Pha Phueng Cave in Nan Province is located along the route to Manee Phruek 1 Village in Ngop Subdistrict, Thung Chang District. The cave is about 1 km from the Ban Manee Phruek Security Development Project Office and around 100 meters from the road. It is a large natural cave surrounded by rich evergreen forest, making it one of the most interesting nature attractions in the Manee Phruek travel route.

 

The walking route to Pha Phueng Cave passes through a very fertile forest area. The surrounding forest remains lush and humid, with many fishtail palm trees growing along the trail. This natural setting gives visitors a strong sense of entering a hidden cave in a mountain forest rather than a developed tourist attraction.

 

The cave entrance is very large, measuring about 40 meters wide and 20 meters high. From the entrance, visitors must walk down about 25 meters to reach the cave floor. The scale of the entrance and the surrounding cliff make the first impression of Pha Phueng Cave especially dramatic.

 

The name “Pha Phueng” comes from the fact that bees once built many hives around the cliff and cave entrance. This local origin gives the cave a strong connection with the natural environment and the memory of the community.

 

The first section of the cave opens into a very large chamber about 20 meters high. Water continuously drips from the ceiling, forming layers of limestone that look like a stone waterfall. These formations create one of the most beautiful scenes inside the cave. Visitors can also see attractive stalactites hanging naturally from the ceiling.

 

The interior of Pha Phueng Cave extends for about 400 meters to the far end. The cave remains naturally breathable inside, but it is dark and humid, so proper lighting is essential. Visitors should use flashlights and walk carefully because some surfaces may be damp or uneven.

 

At the far end of the cave, there is a narrow opening about 20-30 centimeters wide. Beneath this opening, the sound of flowing water can be heard deep below, creating a fascinating natural phenomenon. This suggests the presence of an underground water system within the mountain.

 

Pha Phueng Cave also has historical importance for the local community. In the past, villagers used the cave as a shelter. Because of its large chamber and deep interior, the cave could accommodate several hundred people, making it an important natural refuge in earlier times.

 

Ban Manee Phruek is a highland community known for nature, coffee farms, hill tribe culture, and community-based tourism. A visit to Pha Phueng Cave can be combined with other nearby attractions such as the Ban Manee Phruek Security Development Project, Doi Pha Phueng, coffee farms, silver handicraft areas, and local viewpoints.

 

Getting There is most convenient from Ban Manee Phruek or the Security Development Project Office. The cave is about 1 km from the project office and about 100 meters from the road. Visitors should contact the local community or tourism group before entering the cave for safety and guidance.
