Wat Sawang Arun Nam Kaen, Phu Pieng, Nan. The exact date of the temple’s founding is unknown, but it is assumed to be over 300 years old, as it was established around the same time as the founding of the Ban Nam Kaen Klang community. A sacred Bodhi tree (Ton Sali Luang), which was planted during that period, still stands at the front of the temple to this day.

 

At present, Wat Sawang Arun consists of several structures, including the vihara (main hall), alms hall, monks’ living quarters (kuti), bell tower, and a sturdy perimeter wall enclosing all four sides. The temple plays an important role in nurturing the spiritual well-being of the villagers.
