Wat Tha Tum Tha Tum, Pa Sang, Lamphun. Wat Tha Tum, affiliated with the Maha Nikaya monastic sect, covers an area of 4 rai, 1 ngan, and 15 square wah. Its religious structures include an ordination hall (ubosot), a vihara, a preaching hall, and monk residences. Sacred objects include a principal Buddha image and a stupa.
Wat Tha Tum was established in 1760 (B.E. 2303). According to the temple's history, there was an abandoned temple in the vicinity of the present temple, in an area known as "Den Phra Chao Hu Yan." It is believed that the original temple was built by the Lua people.
During a period of war, the local population evacuated and resettled elsewhere. Later, people began to inhabit the area near the abandoned temple. Finding the location suitable for a temple, and appreciating the shade provided by a large Tum tree with widespread branches, they collectively decided to establish a new temple, naming it Wat Tha Tum.
