Wat Thung Pong Chai is located at No. 133, Ban Thung Pong, Village No. 6, Tambon Thung Kwao, Mueang Pan District, Lampang Province. It belongs to the Mahanikaya monastic sect. The temple occupies a land area of 4 rai, 3 ngan, and 32 square wah. Its northern boundary, approximately 56 wa and 2 sok, adjoins a public road and private land. The southern side, approximately 64 wa and 2 sok, borders a public road and a stream. On the east, about 36 wa, the boundary is shared with a public road and private land. The western side, approximately 36 wa and 2 sok, also adjoins a public road and private property.
 
The temple buildings include the ordination hall, viharn, and a multipurpose pavilion used as either the monks’ dining hall or an open pavilion. Sacred objects enshrined in the temple consist of plaster Buddha images, wooden Buddha images, and a stupa.
 
Wat Thung Pong Chai was established in 1883 (B.E. 2426). It was originally named Wat Don Chai and was built by Phra Saem Luang together with local villagers. Later, Phra Chao Ya Ransi changed the temple's name to Wat Thung Pong Chai to match the name of the village. Locals refer to it simply as “Wat Thung Pong.”
 
The temple’s administration was previously led by Phra Winyakrit Kittiyano. The current abbot is Phra Witthaya Thitathammo, and Phor Nan Kaeo Kowarit serves as the temple teacher.
