Wat Mai Plai Huai

Wat Mai Plai Huai in Phichit Province is a renowned temple and a significant religious site that draws faith from Buddhists across the country. The temple is also home to Luang Pu Toh Phrommarangsi’s monumental seated image, measuring 9 cubits and 9 inches across the lap, radiating grace and spiritual significance. Inside the ordination hall stands Phra Luang Pho Luea, the principal Buddha image, with a lap width of 108 inches, serving as a symbol of faith for local Buddhists. Another striking feature is the image of Phaya Chaloawan in meditation, with a lap width of 7 cubits, reflecting symbolic meaning rooted in local belief and legend.

 

Visitors should not miss the Phlapphla Ha Kasat, the pavilion honoring five great kings of Thailand, which showcases respect and remembrance for monarchs who have made invaluable contributions to the nation. Another centerpiece is the magnificent Phra That Suwan Phichit Rattanakaew Chedi, standing gracefully in the middle of a pond. With a base measuring 4 wa across and a height of 9 wa, the chedi glitters with white glass decorations and enshrines holy relics of the Buddha, making it a spiritual beacon for devotees.

 

Getting to Wat Mai Plai Huai is convenient. Travelers can take the Nakhon Sawan–Phitsanulok highway northward, then turn at the Ban Nong Sano sign. Drive straight ahead until a sign for the temple appears on the left-hand side, turn left, and continue for a short distance to reach this sacred destination.
