Chalermprakiat National Geological Museum, Pathum Thani is one of Thailand’s most important science museums dedicated to geology. Established by the Department of Mineral Resources, it serves as a comprehensive learning center where visitors can explore Earth’s history, rocks, minerals, fossils, and geological processes that shape human life and national development.

 

The museum was created as part of a royal commemorative initiative celebrating the 50th anniversary of the King’s reign. Its mission is to preserve geological knowledge and provide accessible education for the public, especially students and researchers.

 

The museum features five floors of exhibitions, starting from basic geological concepts to advanced applications. The first floor introduces the history of geology and the Department of Mineral Resources, along with fundamental knowledge about Earth formation, rock cycles, and life evolution.

 

The second floor focuses on Thailand’s geological history, presenting rock formations and fossils from the Precambrian period to the present. Models and visual reconstructions help visitors understand ancient environments.

 

The third floor highlights mineral resources and applied geology, including mining, resource utilization, and natural hazards such as earthquakes, landslides, and floods. It also demonstrates how geology supports infrastructure development.

 

The fourth floor features natural energy resources and groundwater systems, along with a prehistoric garden displaying dinosaur models and ancient ecosystems.

 

Outdoor exhibits include a geological rock garden arranged by geological time, waterfalls, and a dinosaur park, making the museum suitable for both educational trips and family visits.
