Architecture and Beauty of the Temple Wat Chang is well-known for its stunning architecture, featuring a ubosot (ordination hall) made of brick and cement, with a roof covered in fish-scale tiles. The structure lacks finials and ornate gables, and the plastered gable is painted white. The interior flooring is laid with granite, contributing to the elegance and durability of the hall.
Inside the ubosot, the walls are adorned with murals depicting the story of the Buddha’s life, along with images of the five Buddha figures situated behind the principal Buddha image. On the lower part of the northern wall, there are images of monks contemplating the asubha meditation, reflecting the study and consideration of the nature of the physical body.
The principal Buddha image in the ubosot is in the posture of Mara Victory, measuring 42 inches in width and 52 inches in height, created in the year 1845 using sandstone. The principal Buddha image in the sermon hall also depicts the Mara Victory posture, measuring 40 inches in width and 60 inches in height, constructed in 2002. Statues of Luang Pu Peng, Luang Pu Rod, and Luang Pu Puang, adorned in gold leaf, enhance the sacredness of the temple.
Cultural and Spiritual Significance Wat Chang serves not only as a place for merit-making and spiritual practice but also as an important cultural center for the Ang Thong community. The temple hosts significant religious and cultural activities, such as ordination ceremonies and memorial services, which strengthen the bonds between the local community and the temple.
