Long Pu Tha Reservoir is a small reservoir located in Ban Don Du Phong, Moo 4, Du Phong Subdistrict, Santisuk District, Nan Province. It serves both as an agricultural water source and a relaxing community attraction surrounded by mountain scenery. The reservoir is known for its peaceful atmosphere, fish-feeding area, and convenient location along the Santisuk–Mae Charim Road.

 

The reservoir is situated near the entrance to the Santisuk District Government Center and can easily be seen from the main road connecting Santisuk District with Mae Charim District. Originally, this area was farmland owned by local residents. On March 15, 1983, seven local villagers donated the land to the Du Phong Subdistrict Council for public use and the construction of a water-retention dam.

 

The main purpose of Long Pu Tha Reservoir was to store water for agricultural activities in Du Phong Subdistrict and nearby communities, especially during the dry season when water resources were limited. Over time, the reservoir became an important part of local agricultural life and community development in Santisuk District.

 

Later, the supporters of Wat Don Mongkhon together with the Du Phong Subdistrict Administrative Organization introduced various fish species into the reservoir. This effort transformed the area into a fish conservation site and a local tourist attraction. Today, feeding the fish has become one of the most popular activities for both local residents and visitors.

 

The charm of Long Pu Tha Reservoir comes from its simple rural atmosphere. The surrounding mountains, green landscape, and calm waters create a relaxing environment suitable for photography, sightseeing, and short rest stops during travel through Santisuk District. Many visitors prefer coming in the early morning or late afternoon when the weather is cooler and the scenery is especially peaceful.

 

Besides its agricultural importance, the reservoir also reflects the cooperation of the local community in land donation, water management, and natural conservation. Community members continue helping maintain the area, allowing the reservoir to remain a pleasant and well-preserved recreational spot for local people and travelers.

 

Getting There from Nan city is convenient by driving toward the Phu Yaeng checkpoint intersection and turning onto the Santisuk–Mae Charim Road. Near the Santisuk District Government Center, Long Pu Tha Public Park and Reservoir will be visible on the right-hand side. The route is suitable for private cars, rental vehicles, and motorcycles.

 

Travelers can also combine the trip with nearby attractions such as Wat Don Mongkhon, mountain viewpoints around Santisuk District, or continue toward Mae Charim District. Small local cafés and restaurants along the route make the reservoir a pleasant stop for travelers exploring northern Nan Province.
