Wat Soi Phrao Phra That, Chiang Klang, Nan. The temple belongs to the Maha Nikaya monastic sect. The land on which the temple is situated covers an area of 13 rai, 3 ngan, and 88 square wah. Its boundaries are approximately 41 square wah to the north, 41 square wah to the south, 107 square wah to the east, and 107 square wah to the west. The temple structures include a vihara, an ordination hall (ubosot), monks’ living quarters, a sermon hall, a drum tower, a kitchen, and restrooms. Sacred objects enshrined at the temple include two principal Buddha images and three other Buddha statues.
Wat Soi Phrao was officially permitted for establishment on August 15, 1975. At that time, the village headman, Mr. Wan Atchahan, donated the land for the temple and oversaw the initial construction. Later, Mr. Srinuan Atchahan, his son, was selected as the new village headman and continued the process of registering and establishing the temple. The Ministry of Education officially recognized it as a temple on March 20, 1980. The temple was granted royal consecration (Wisungkhamasima) on December 20, 1999.
The temple has had eight abbots. At present, it is supported by the faith of the local community, which consists of 130 households with a total population of 480 people. The current village headman is Mr. Phas Atchahan, and the abbot is Phra Athikan Sutthiphat Kattasaro (Boonkoet).
