Wat Si Bun Rueang Muang Tuet, Phu Pieng, Nan. This is an ancient temple. Although the exact date of its establishment is unclear, there is no definitive evidence recorded in the Nan Chronicle, as preserved in the Vajirayan Library, page 96.
It was recorded that in the year 922 of the Chula Sakkarat era (corresponding to 1561 CE), Phaya Nor Kham Sethiensongkram, the ruler of Nan, together with Maha Sami Chao Kanlayano of Wat Sri Boonruang, undertook the restoration of Phra That Chae Haeng. Therefore, it is estimated that Wat Sri Boonruang was built prior to 1561 CE, giving it an approximate age of over 452 years.
The temple grounds of Wat Sri Boonruang include religious buildings such as the main vihara (ordination hall), the sermon hall, monks’ residences (kuti), and the Mondop of Phra Khru Phutthamonth Chotikun. The mondop was constructed after the passing of Phra Khru Phutthamonth Chotikun.
This mondop exhibits a blend of traditional and modern architectural styles. It houses the relics of Phra Khru Phutthamonth Chotikun and a life-sized wax figure of him, which is open daily for Buddhist devotees to pay their respects.
The temple serves as a significant site for religious ceremonies and rituals, primarily used by the Buddhist community of Ban Buppharam and nearby villages.
