Ban Bothong Gold Mine Museum

Ban Bothong Gold Mine Museum is one of the most remarkable cultural and historical learning sites in Prachinburi Province. Located in Bo Thong Subdistrict, Kabin Buri District, the museum was established as a memorial and knowledge center to preserve the history of gold mining in the region. It reflects the economic past, community life, and local wisdom tied to gold mining that once flourished here.

 

The museum was founded in 2005 and was originally under the supervision of the Department of Primary Industries and Mines before being transferred to the administration of the Bo Thong Subdistrict Administrative Organization. Today, it serves as a cultural center that provides both academic knowledge and first-hand experiences for visitors interested in the history of mining.

 

Inside the museum, exhibitions highlight the process of gold mining in earlier times. Displays include open-pit mining, underground mining, and ore separation techniques. Visitors can also view showcases of survey equipment, smelting furnaces, and samples of different minerals, offering a comprehensive picture of the mining process.

 

Beyond the main exhibition hall, the surrounding area preserves authentic mining sites such as an ancient pounding mill, ore yards, and historic mining pits known locally as Bo Kwan, Bo Mak, Bo Maduea, Bo Sam-ang, and Bo Khee Lek. These sites give visitors the opportunity to experience the original atmosphere of a gold-mining community.

It is open Monday–Friday, from 08:30 to 16:00. Closed on weekends and public holidays.
