Lotok Museum is located in Bang Lao Subdistrict, Mueang Chachoengsao District, Chachoengsao Province. It stands within the garden residence of “Lotok,” whose real name was Mr. Sawang Sapsamruay, a legendary Thai comedian and National Artist in Performing Arts (1994). This site is not merely the former home of an artist who brought laughter to generations of Thai audiences, but also a tangible archive preserving the history of Thai comedic performance.

 

Lotok was one of the pioneering comedians in Thai cinema, appearing in numerous films during the golden era of Thai movies. His signature style combined sincerity, natural comedic timing, and characters that resonated with audiences from all walks of life. His journey to success was built on perseverance, discipline, and decades of dedication to the performing arts, ultimately earning him the prestigious title of National Artist.

 

The garden house in Bang Lao served as his actual residence during the later years of his life. It has since been arranged as a museum displaying personal belongings, documents, photographs, and memorabilia from his acting career. The uniqueness of this museum lies in its authenticity—it remains a real home rather than a formal exhibition building, creating an intimate and personal visiting atmosphere.

 

One of the most popular highlights is the statue of Lotok dressed in his iconic plaid outfit. The plaid costume became closely associated with his on-stage image, symbolizing humor and simplicity.
