Wat Chantharawat Attractions in Mae Hong Son Mae Sariang, Mae Sariang, Mae Hong Son. Wat Chantharawat, originally known as Wat Mantalay, was officially established as a temple in 1908 (B.E. 2451) and granted the Wisungkhamsima royal consecration boundary in 1939 (B.E. 2482). Formerly called "Jong Khum," the name derives from the Shan language, where "Jong" means "temple" and "Khum" refers to a lowland or depression. Hence, Wat Jong Khum translates to "the temple in the lowland."

The temple showcases Burmese-style architecture and serves as a venue for traditional ceremonies, Buddhist teachings, and cultural practices. It is home to remarkable architectural features, including the ornate entrance gate, the sermon hall, and the bell tower, all of which exhibit a blend of Shan and Burmese art styles.
