Wat Pa Lan was established in 1901 (BE 2444) by Mr. Ko Kowong, the headman of Pa Lan village, who donated the land and oversaw the construction. The area was originally abundant with sugar palm trees (lan), which inspired the name "Wat Pa Lan." The current abbot of the temple is Phra Khru Anusorn Sasanakon (Nantiyo).
