Wat Thung Phra Ngam, Phrom Buri, Sing Buri. Wat Thung is situated on lowland along the western bank of the Chao Phraya River, surrounded by rice fields. It is believed to have been established as a temple during the Sukhothai period, prior to 1377 (BE 1920). Due to its location in the middle of the fields, it was named "Wat Thung" (Field Temple).

According to legend, a wealthy landowner named Nai Kham Mee built the temple on his farmland. Nai Kham Mee had two wives, who were sisters. The elder wife, Lam Yong, built a Buddha image that is now enshrined to the north of the temple, known as Luang Pho Mia Luang (Buddha of the Senior Wife). Meanwhile, the younger wife, Lam Yai, created another Buddha image, which is enshrined to the south of the temple and referred to as Luang Pho Mia Noi (Buddha of the Junior Wife).

Both statues remain intact and are deeply revered by the local Buddhist community. Nai Kham Mee himself also created a Buddha image and planted a sacred Bodhi tree near the temple. For this reason, the temple is sometimes referred to by locals as Wat Mia Luang Mia Noi (Temple of the Senior and Junior Wives).

Getting There From Bangkok, take Highway No. 1 and turn onto Road No. 32 (Asia Highway). Pass through Ayutthaya and Ang Thong provinces until you are about to enter Sing Buri Province (around kilometer marker 119). Turn left and cross the bridge over the Chao Phraya River near Wat Chaiyo Worawihan (Wat Luang Pho To Maha Phuttha Phim).

From there, turn right and follow the road along the irrigation canal (Chai Nat-Ang Thong route) for another 5 kilometers. Wat Thung will be on your right-hand side.
