Wat Phra Chao Thanjai is located in Ban Phra Chao Thanjai, Village No. 3, Ton Thong Chai Subdistrict, Mueang Lampang District, Lampang Province. It is a public temple of the Mahanikaya sect. The abbot is Phra Khru Phutthitham Sophit.
 
The Bodhi Tree at Wat Phra Chao Thanjai was brought from India. Mae Liang Tao Chantharavirot respectfully brought it to be planted as a devotional offering to Phra Chao Thanjai in 1957 (B.E. 2500).
 
The Shrine of Guan Yin Bodhisattva (Avalokiteśvara) is also located at the temple.
 
The Shrine of King Anantayos (Indrakuenkorn), the first monarch of Khelang Nakhon who ruled between 688–749 A.D. (B.E. 1231–1292), is located at the temple. The king ordered the construction of Wat Phra Chao Thanjai – Ku Kham in the forest tradition style. The temple was constructed with the devotion of every household of the community as an act of gratitude. The total cost was 30,000 baht and the shrine was completed on January 23, 2010 (B.E. 2553).
 
The Shrine of Chao Pho Pan Choeng (Pun Choeng), a renowned military arts teacher and valiant warrior during the reign of King Anantayos of Khelang Nakhon, was also built at the temple. Constructed by the faithful of Wat Phra Chao Thanjai with gratitude, it cost 25,000 baht and was completed on January 1, 2010 (B.E. 2553).
 
The Great Chedi (Stupa) at Wat Phra Chao Thanjai enshrines a relic of the Buddha’s hair.
 
The Vihara (sanctuary hall) of Phra Maha Kaccayana Thera was built in 1996 (B.E. 2539) at a cost of 40,187 baht.
 
The Stupa Enshrining the Relics of Phra Khru Ba Maha Pa Ketsarapanyo of Wat Lai Hin, Ko Kha District, Lampang Province. He renovated Wat Phra Chao Thanjai in 1729 A.D. (B.E. 2272). Later, Phra Athikan Bunma Supatto, the abbot, built a new stupa over the old one in 1957 (B.E. 2500), standing 1.5 meters tall. Then, in 1991 (B.E. 2534), Phra Khru Phutthitham Sophit further restored it, raising its height to 2.84 meters, as a lasting memorial to this great elder monk who had contributed significantly to the temple since the past.
