Wat Santi Nikom, formerly known as Wat Santi Nikom Samakkhi Tham, is located in Mai Phatthana Subdistrict, approximately 12 kilometers west of Ko Kha District. It can be reached via the Ko Kha–Pong Ron–San Pa Sak route. This tranquil and green temple showcases elegant Buddhist architecture and provides a serene atmosphere for spiritual practice.
In addition to serving as a religious site dedicated to spreading Buddhist teachings, Wat Santi Nikom has evolved into a comprehensive learning center. It offers educational opportunities in various fields, attracting visitors, students, and researchers interested in spiritual and cultural knowledge.
The temple was founded on June 10, 1982, on land donated by the Hang Chat Cooperative Settlement, covering an area of 15 rai and 85 square wah. It began as a simple monastic residence, initiated by Luang Pu Sa-at Kusalachitto and Mr. Chankaeo Champawan (affectionately known as Grandfather Kham), with support from the local community.
Under the leadership of Phra Khru Kittitheerakhun (Kittiphop Sumangkalo) and Luang Pu Sa-at Kusalachitto, the temple has undergone continuous development. Restoration and construction of permanent structures and religious facilities have been carried out consistently, enhancing the temple’s spiritual and physical environment.
These efforts have deeply inspired the faithful, who regularly contribute donations and support the temple’s projects. Both monastic leaders are known for their strict adherence to Buddhist monastic discipline and practice. They are respected as dedicated Dhamma practitioners and Vipassana meditation masters, maintaining high moral conduct and unblemished spiritual integrity.
Through their teachings and personal example, they have become significant sources of spiritual guidance. Wat Santi Nikom has thus become a vital center for the dissemination of the Buddha’s teachings, offering spiritual refuge to countless followers over the years.
The temple grounds also include several learning zones that focus on Buddhist education, local wisdom, traditional arts and culture, medicinal plants and herbal gardens, folk heritage, a commemorative library in honor of His Majesty the King’s 80th birthday, and a community ICT center for local development.
