101 Tea Plantation is a well-known highland tea plantation located in Mae Salong Nok Subdistrict, Mae Fah Luang District, Chiang Rai Province. The plantation is situated on mountainous terrain, where tea is grown in beautifully arranged terraced fields along the slopes. One of the highlights of visiting here is observing the traditional tea harvesting process. Local hill tribe workers carry woven baskets on their backs and carefully pick young tea leaves by hand. Each harvesting cycle is spaced about 45–50 days apart to ensure the best quality leaves. This method reflects the deep knowledge and care that goes into producing premium tea.

 

At the top of the plantation, there is an open-air pavilion where visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. The cool climate throughout the year makes it a perfect place to sit, relax, and enjoy freshly brewed tea. Visitors are welcomed with aromatic tea tastings, providing a unique experience directly at the source.

 

In addition to tea products such as oolong and green tea, the plantation also offers a variety of tea-related souvenirs and brewing equipment. Visitors can also try light snacks made with tea, such as tea eggs and tea-flavored buns, adding another dimension to the visit.

 

Getting There is easiest by private car. From Chiang Rai city, drive toward Mae Fah Luang District and take the old Mae Salong road (Highway 1130). Continue toward Doi Mae Salong, passing Akha villages and winding mountain roads. The plantation is located on the left-hand side approximately 5 kilometers before reaching Doi Mae Salong and about 4 kilometers from Santikhiri Village.
