Huai Kaew Waterfall in Chiang Rai is a large and pristine waterfall hidden deep within the natural forest of Doi Hang Subdistrict, Mueang District. Although it is only about 25 kilometers from the city center, the area remains untouched and peaceful, making it ideal for travelers seeking authentic nature experiences.

This waterfall consists of three tiers, each offering unique scenery. The water flows throughout the year, creating a refreshing and vibrant atmosphere in every season.

The first level features a 30-meter-high waterfall cascading down large rock formations into a natural pool below. The area is shaded by dense trees, making it suitable for relaxation and even swimming in certain areas.

The second level is located about 200 meters further along the trail. It is one of the highlights, with water falling from a height of around 40 meters. The trail runs along both sides of the stream, offering multiple scenic viewpoints for photography.

Nearby, visitors can also explore tea plantations and ethnic villages such as Akha, Lisu, and Chinese Haw communities. These areas provide cultural experiences and homestay accommodations for those interested in local lifestyles.

The third level is deeper into the forest and suitable for experienced trekkers. It offers a quieter and more secluded atmosphere, perfect for those looking to immerse themselves fully in nature.

Getting There Travelers can follow the route to Huai Mak Liam Hot Spring. Before reaching the hot spring, there is a left turn near Ban Pha Serd with Wat Pha Serd Wanaram as a landmark. The road is not suitable for small cars. After driving approximately 5.6 km on dirt roads, visitors must hike about 1 km to reach the waterfall.
