Wat Thang Ruea is located at 1 Moo 5, Huai Kan Laen Subdistrict, Wiset Chai Chan District, Ang Thong Province, about 20 kilometers from the district center. This temple is well-known among local residents due to its many hidden treasures, including a carved figure of Phra Mae Thorani from a deceased Takien tree, Garuda, and a large magical knife for auspiciousness.

The temple was established in 1984, originally named Wat Chom Phu Samakkee Dharma. Construction began in 1973 by Khun Phor Foi and Khun Mae Thom Ya Chom Phu, alongside local villagers. Their intent was to create a monastic site that would bring happiness and sanctity to the community.

Wat Thang Ruea features several religious structures, including an ubosot (ordination hall), a prayer hall, a meditation hall, monks' residences, and a principal Buddha image housed in the ubosot, which is in the Mara Vijaya posture created in 1982. Additionally, the ubosot contains a principal image of Phra Buddha Chinnarat created in 2007.

Among the temple’s notable features is the hair of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, revered by Thais. Phra Anuwat Aniyachito, the abbot, oversees the care and dissemination of stories related to this hair to villagers and devotees.

Wat Thang Ruea serves not only as a place for merit-making and prayer but also as a community hub where people gather for various activities, including important ceremonies and festivals, which foster relationships among residents and promote unity in the community.

Local residents continue to uphold long-standing traditions by visiting the temple to seek blessings and make merit, believing that the sacred objects within the temple will bring them luck and prosperity.

Visitors can explore Wat Thang Ruea every day, and there are services available to guide them on how to reach the temple. For more information, inquiries can be directed to 081-5909181, the contact number for Phra Anuwat Aniyachito, the temple caretaker.

With continued faith and restoration efforts, Wat Thang Ruea remains a highly significant sacred site in Ang Thong Province, where people can find peace and happiness.
