Khao Krachom

Khao Krachom (Attractions in Ratchaburi) is located in the western border region of Thailand, within Suan Phueng District, Ratchaburi Province. Standing at an elevation of 1,045 meters above sea level, Khao Krachom is celebrated as one of the most picturesque sea mist viewpoints in the region. Historically, the Karen people who lived in the area called this mountain "Khao Landa," meaning "mountain with a plateau." Around 50 years ago, during the tin mining period, Thai workers in the area noticed the mountain's resemblance to a Native American tepee. Thus, they renamed it "Khao Krachom," a name that symbolizes the blend of local culture and the perspectives of those who came to work in the area.

 

The journey to Khao Krachom is demanding and requires careful attention due to winding roads and rough terrains. Travelers are recommended to use four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicles or hire guided transportation services provided by the local community. This adventurous trek is a priceless experience that is sure to leave a lasting memory.

 

Upon reaching the summit of Khao Krachom, visitors are rewarded with breathtaking views of a sea of mist stretching as far as the eye can see. This phenomenon is particularly striking in the early mornings of the winter season, where thick mist blankets the forests and hills, enhanced by the soft glow of the rising sun.
