Ban Sai Phet Local Wisdom Learning Center is an important community learning destination focused on self-reliance and the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. The center is located in Thong Mongkhon Subdistrict, Bang Saphan District. These ideas have been developed into a structured community learning system, eventually becoming a local wisdom learning center that welcomes visitors, organizations, and students to study and observe the community's practices.

 

This learning center is considered a practical example of applying the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy in everyday life. Activities include food production, household resource management, and the development of supplementary occupations using local resources. Each activity is designed so that participants can apply the knowledge directly in their own daily lives.

 

The core concept of Ban Sai Phet Learning Center is to create balance between people and nature. The community focuses on producing food primarily for household consumption, while surplus production can be sold to generate income for families. This approach helps reduce economic risks and allows the community to remain self-sufficient in a sustainable way.

 

The development of this learning center began when community leaders and local wisdom experts joined together to share agricultural knowledge and self-reliance practices with younger generations. As a result, learning bases were established throughout the village to allow visitors to study and practice real-life agricultural techniques.

 

Today, Ban Sai Phet Local Wisdom Learning Center consists of eight learning bases, each specializing in different aspects of sustainable agriculture and community livelihood development.

 

The beef cattle farming learning base focuses on developing skills in raising beef cattle. This base is managed by Mrs. Pin Kanket, who shares her experience in livestock care, feed management, and income generation through cattle farming, which can be integrated effectively with other agricultural activities.

 

The household dairy industry learning base is operated by Mr. Nattaphon Kaewdaeng. This base focuses on utilizing animal waste efficiently, particularly for producing biogas that can be used for cooking and household lighting. This method helps reduce energy costs and promotes sustainable resource use.

 

The natural pig farming learning base, operated by Mr. Manu Yuyong, promotes environmentally friendly pig farming techniques. The pig pit system reduces odor and pollution while allowing the bedding materials to be reused as organic fertilizer.

 

The pineapple processing learning base, led by Mrs. Chucheep Yuyong, focuses on adding value to local agricultural products. Pineapples grown in the area are processed into various products such as pineapple paste, dried pineapple, and other processed foods that help generate additional income for local households.

 

The charcoal production and handicraft learning base, managed by Mr. Chong Niyomploy, teaches charcoal production, wood vinegar extraction, and creative wire handicrafts such as decorative animal sculptures used in garden decoration. These activities create additional value from locally available materials.

 

The soil restoration learning base, called “Reviving the Earth,” is operated by Mr. Somkid Lakyim. This base focuses on improving soil fertility through compost production and natural bio-extracts. These methods help reduce chemical usage in agriculture and support organic farming practices.

 

The vetiver grass planting learning base is managed by Mr. Iam Saensabai. This base teaches how to plant vetiver grass to prevent soil erosion and maintain soil moisture, which is an effective technique for soil conservation.

 

The new theory agriculture learning base is led by Mr. Charoon Nankaset. This base introduces agricultural land management according to the royal development principles. The concept focuses on dividing land into sections for crops, livestock, and water resources to create balance and long-term food security.

 

The Ban Sai Phet Learning Center also offers training programs for those interested in learning about sustainable living based on the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy. Each year, approximately four to six training sessions are organized, with around fifty participants per session. Participants receive both theoretical and practical training and stay within the village to experience the real lifestyle of the community.

 

The atmosphere of Ban Sai Phet community is simple, peaceful, and welcoming. Villagers emphasize cooperation and sharing resources with one another. Visitors who come here are often impressed by the calm lifestyle and the friendliness of the local people.

 

Getting There Ban Sai Phet Local Wisdom Learning Center can be reached via Phetkasem Road. After passing kilometer marker 403, turn onto the road leading to Ban Sai Phet village. Continue for approximately 1.6 kilometers. The road consists of both paved and rural sections and can be accessed throughout the year.
