Bua Tong Fields at Doi Mae U-Kho is one of the most spectacular natural attractions in Mae Hong Son Province. Located in Mae U-Kho Subdistrict, Khun Yuam District, this vast mountain landscape becomes covered in bright yellow wild sunflowers every year during November and December, creating a breathtaking panoramic view.

 

The area spans approximately 1,000 rai and is managed under a highland forestry conservation project. The terrain consists of rolling hills and mountain ridges, offering multiple scenic viewpoints where visitors can enjoy uninterrupted views of golden flowers stretching across the mountains.

 

What makes this destination unique is the synchronized blooming of Bua Tong flowers across the entire mountain, turning the landscape into a sea of gold. The atmosphere is peaceful and ideal for nature lovers, photographers, and travelers seeking a relaxing escape, especially during sunrise and sunset when the light enhances the vibrant yellow tones.

 

To reach Doi Mae U-Kho, visitors can take Highway 108 (Mae Hong Son – Khun Yuam) and turn left onto Highway 1263 about 1 kilometer before reaching Khun Yuam town. From there, continue for approximately 26 kilometers along a paved road. Although the route is mountainous and winding, it is accessible by car.

 

The site provides camping facilities for visitors who wish to stay overnight, accommodating up to around 100 tents. Basic amenities such as restrooms are available, and there is also a small restaurant near the viewpoint area, allowing visitors to comfortably spend extended time on the mountain.
