This protective practice was not unusual in times of conflict, when communities tried to prevent sacred and valuable objects from being stolen or destroyed.

 

Later, the image was moved again and enshrined first at Wat Uthissamoson, before eventually being brought to Wat Phayao. At some point, an ordinand noticed traces of lacquer beneath the plaster surface. Villagers then helped carefully remove the outer layer and discovered that the Buddha image beneath was made of metal with a high gold content. From that moment onward, local people began calling it Luang Pho Thongkham, or the Golden Buddha Father.

 

After specialists examined the image, it became even more widely respected. Local devotees and supporters then joined together to build a four-gabled pavilion to enshrine the Golden Buddha properly. This structure enhances the dignity of the image and allows visitors to pay respects more comfortably.

 

Wat Phayao itself has the atmosphere of a traditional riverside community temple. Its setting beside the Pa Sak River gives it a quiet and open feeling, while the temple grounds preserve a strong local identity. Travel Information To reach Wat Phayao, take Highway 3041 on the Saraburi–Ban Yang route. Before reaching Sao Hai District, turn right and cross the Pa Sak River bridge. At the next junction, turn left and continue for about 100 meters. The temple is around 9 kilometers from Saraburi town. The back of the temple also connects with the Pak Bang–Saraburi road, which is convenient for route planning by private car.
