Lan Hin Khao is a seaside viewpoint located at the end of Mae Ramphueng Beach, Rayong. It is one of the most beautiful sunset spots on Thailand’s Eastern Seaboard. The highlight is a stretch of large rocks and white-toned stones scattered along the shore, extending into the sea. Wave action has sculpted some parts into striking rock formations. From above, the blue sea contrasts vividly with the white rock layers, creating a memorable natural scene that’s popular with travelers and photographers.

In the late afternoon, Lan Hin Khao gets lively with visitors waiting for the view. Golden-hour light reflects off the water and rocks, making it one of Rayong’s favorite photo spots. On clear summer days the horizon appears crisp. During low tide you can step down onto the rocks for low-angle shots, but beware of slippery algae. The rhythmic sound of waves on stone adds a soothing backdrop, making this a good place for couples, families, or anyone needing a quiet reset.

The area around the rocks has simple seating spots, small pavilions for shade, and a seaside road with convenient parking. On some days local vendors sell snacks, drinks, or ice cream, adding an easygoing beach-town feel. In the morning you may see people fishing, strolling, or jogging along the shore when it’s cooler and calmer than in the afternoon.

Although it’s a public area, Lan Hin Khao falls within the coastal zone overseen by Khao Laem Ya–Mu Ko Samet National Park, which helps with cleanliness and safety checks. There is currently no entrance fee. During the monsoon season (roughly May–October), waves can be strong; avoid walking on rocks near the water on rough-sea days.

Getting There From downtown Rayong, take Sukhumvit Road (Highway 3) toward Ban Phe. At Ta Phong Junction, turn onto the Mae Ramphueng Beach road and continue for about 11 km to reach Lan Hin Khao (15–20 minutes by car). Without a private car, take the Rayong–Ban Phe songthaew, get off along Mae Ramphueng Beach, then take a motorcycle taxi to the viewpoint. Signage is clear and roadside parking is available.

Along the way you’ll pass well-known seafood restaurants and seaside cafés such as “Krua Mae Ramphueng” and “The Bizarre Bray Café,” which many visitors stop at before the rocks. Beachfront stays range from mid-size resorts to budget homestays—great if you want to wake up to sea views and catch the morning light.
