Today, the lake covers about 2,711 rai and has become both a scenic destination and a protected conservation area. Getting There From Chiang Saen town, drive along Highway 1016, the Chiang Saen-Mae Chan route, for about 5 kilometres. Then turn left at kilometre marker 26 and continue for around 1.5 kilometres to reach the lake area. The route is convenient for private cars and can easily be combined with other attractions around Chiang Saen and the Golden Triangle.
