Wat Phra Yai It is one of the most famous tourist attractions of Koh Samui. It houses the "Big Buddha" or "Phra Phuttha Kodom", a large golden Buddha image in the subduing Mara posture, with a lap width of 5 wa, 9 inches and a height of 6. Wa, clearly visible on the top of the mountain
 
Big Buddha Temple is located in the northeast of Koh Samui near Bophut Beach. On a small island called "Koh Fan", the word "fan" means "barking" because in the past, there were barking deer living in this area. Originally, the island was surrounded by water and later made a permanent road to the temple.
 
The big Buddha, known as "Phra Buddha Santitipanath", lap width 5 wa 9 inches, or about 10 meters, height 6 wa or about 12 meters, is located on the island of Fan. From the enshrined area, one can see Koh Phangan. clearly including the scenery of Bang Rak Beach and beautiful Bophut beach Around the area is a religious place. which has Buddha images in various postures, Goddess of Mercy Including rental booths, amulets, general offerings and is the location of the meditation center for those interested in practicing the Dharma to stay.
 
Getting there If driving from Bophut Beach takes about 10 minutes. Minutes by traveling through Bangrak Beach Road until you meet Bangrak Pier. Which is on the left-hand side, drive straight for about 300 meters, you will see the entrance arch of the temple, but if coming through Chaweng Beach, it takes about 15 minutes.
 
By driving to Choeng Mon Beach, you will pass hotels such as Nora Beach Hotel, Nora Buri Hotel, Boat House, etc. Follow the road and you will find the temple entrance arch on the right hand side.
