Nang Ram Beach

Nang Ram Beach is one of the most well-known beaches in Sattahip District, Chonburi Province. Although it stretches only about 200 meters, it has a unique charm that attracts many visitors throughout the year. Its highlight lies in the tranquil atmosphere and neat surroundings, thanks to the supervision of the Royal Thai Navy. This makes the beach clean, safe, and more suitable for relaxation compared to other famous beaches that are often crowded with tourists.

 

The beach features fine white sand along the coastline and clear blue waters with gentle waves, making it ideal for swimming for both children and adults. Large trees along the shore provide natural shade, allowing visitors to enjoy a peaceful and refreshing environment. Nang Ram Beach is also famous as a sunset viewpoint, where golden evening light reflects on the sea, creating a romantic and picturesque scene.

 

The name “Nang Ram” (meaning “Dancing Lady”) comes from a local legend that tells of a young woman who once danced along the shore to welcome navy officers returning from their missions. This story has added charm and uniqueness to the beach while also reflecting the strong bond between the local community and the navy. At the end of the beach lies Laem Pu Chao (Pu Chao Cape), the location of the shrine of Admiral Prince Abhakara Kiartivongse, Prince of Chumphon—reverently known as “Sadet Tia” and considered the Father of the Royal Thai Navy. The shrine is a sacred site respected by locals and visitors alike, many of whom come to pay respects and pray for safe sea journeys.

 

Nang Ram Beach is not only a place for relaxation but also a hub for activities. Visitors can enjoy safe swimming, kayaking to explore the scenery, riding banana boats for fun with friends, or snorkeling to witness the beauty of marine life just off the shore. These activities enhance the travel experience, providing both leisure and adventure.

 

Facilities at Nang Ram Beach are complete, including clean restrooms, seafood restaurants serving fresh and tasty dishes, small shops, and accommodations managed by the Navy Club. These lodging options are well-known for being clean, safe, and reasonably priced, allowing visitors to stay overnight and enjoy the calm atmosphere of the sea at both dawn and dusk.

 

Getting to Nang Ram Beach is convenient. By private car from Bangkok, it takes about 2–3 hours via Sukhumvit Road, passing through Sattahip and heading toward Chuk Samet Pier. For those traveling by public transport, vans or buses from Bangkok to Sattahip are available, followed by a songthaew or motorcycle taxi to reach the beach easily.

 

Nearby attractions include Nang Rong Beach, which is connected to Nang Ram Beach and often visited in the same trip, the Royal Thai Navy Museum, Sattahip Naval Base, and local markets offering fresh seafood and souvenirs. These make the trip more varied and enjoyable.

 

Nang Ram Beach is open year-round, but the best time to visit is from November to April, when the sea is calm, the water is crystal-clear, and the sky is bright. This period is ideal for swimming, photography, and safe water activities. Visitors are recommended to bring essentials such as sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and swimsuits. Everyone is also encouraged to help preserve the environment by keeping the beach clean and free of litter, ensuring its beauty remains for future generations.
