Wat Nong Bua is a public temple under the Mahanikaya sect, located in Moo 4, Nong Bua Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chanthaburi Province. It was established during the reign of King Rama IV of the Rattanakosin era, with Luang Pho To serving as the first abbot. The temple received official permission for construction in 1820 and was granted royal endorsement of the temple boundary in 1822. The temple occupies a total area of 40 rai and 3 ngan, with an additional sacred land plot measuring 1 rai, 3 ngan, and 7 square wah. It is bordered to the north by Khao Nong Bua, to the south by Yanawirot Road, to the east by Wat Nong Bua School, and to the west by the Nong Bua village community.

Wat Nong Bua holds cultural and religious significance for the local community, reflecting both the spiritual development and the preservation of local traditions in Chanthaburi. Its establishment during King Rama IV’s reign coincides with a period when many temples were constructed or renovated, demonstrating the era’s emphasis on religious devotion and community collaboration.

Travelers from Bangkok can reach the temple via several routes. The first option is Bangkok–Chonburi–Pattaya–Ban Chang–Rayong–Chanthaburi via Highway 3, approximately 291 kilometers. The second route is Bangkok–Chonburi–Si Racha–Rayong–Chanthaburi via Highway 36, around 254 kilometers. The third option is Bangkok–Chonburi–Klaeng–Chanthaburi via Highway 344, approximately 245 kilometers. Alternatively, travelers can take the motorway starting from Srinakarin Road to Pattaya, Chonburi (about 90 kilometers), continue via Highway 36 for 50 kilometers, and Highway 3 for 108 kilometers, totaling around 248 kilometers. From there, take Chanthakham Withee Road past Chanthaburi Technical College, turn left over the bridge toward Wat Ko Tonod, then turn right onto the Ang Hin–Phra Chao Tak Boatyard route for about 3 kilometers.

Wat Nong Bua is not only a place of religious practice but also a center for cultural activities and community engagement. Its serene environment makes it ideal for meditation, merit-making, and studying the history of Chanthaburi temples, establishing it as a key destination for both tourists and local visitors.
