Wat Cham Pa Thong Pho Prachak, Tha Chan, Sing Buri. The origin of Wat Cham Pa Thong is still unknown. It was said that, formerly, its name was “Wat Mae Thong” which is the founder’s name.

Mae Thong, the founder, built the temple for her son to be ordained as she took an oath to build a temple if her son survived from the war. She then moved to live and take care her son until her death.

The temple was probably built in B.E. 2337 in late Ayudhaya era. In about B.E. 2430, a monk on pilgrimage stopped and decided to settle here. He renovated this abandoned temple.

Later, other monks moved to this temple and its name was changed to “Wat Cham Pa Thong” which is the name of the area where the temple is located. The temple was granted the consecrated boundary in B.E. 2382.

Inside the temple, there are huge golden reclining Buddha image from Rattanakosin era and Sala Somdet Phutthachan Tho Phromrangsi pavilion.

The temple is surrounded by trees and has tranquil atmosphere. The royal Barge of HRH Sirondhorn called “Cham Pa Thong Singburi” which was once used by HRH Sirindhorn is displayed in the temple. The barge is a big wooden dug boat with roof.
