Wat Doi Koeng, Mae Hong Son is a local Buddhist temple located at No. 1/4, Moo 8, Ban Pa Kluai, Mae Sariang Subdistrict, Mae Sariang District, Mae Hong Son Province, Thailand. This temple serves as an important spiritual center for the local community and reflects the deep-rooted faith in Buddhism among the people of Mae Sariang.

 

The temple was officially established in 1942 and later received its royal boundary (Wisungkhamsima) in 1994. This recognition confirms its status as a fully functioning temple capable of conducting important religious ceremonies according to Buddhist traditions.

 

Originally, Wat Doi Koeng was an abandoned temple without resident monks. Over time, it fell into disrepair until the local community decided to restore it. In 1977, Phra Rat Rattanayano was invited to become the abbot and began restoring the temple, both physically and spiritually.

 

Under his leadership, the temple underwent significant development and became an active center for religious activities once again. He was later granted the ecclesiastical title “Phra Khru Anusonth Prachathorn,” recognizing his contributions to Buddhism and the community.

 

Today, Wat Doi Koeng continues to play a vital role in local life, hosting religious events, merit-making ceremonies, and traditional festivals. It remains a place where the community gathers and maintains its cultural and spiritual heritage.

 

Getting There is convenient from Mae Sariang town, located approximately 3 kilometers away. Visitors can easily reach the temple by car or motorcycle within a short drive.
