Wat Ban Phae Attractions in Mae Hong Son Ban Kat, Mae Sariang, Mae Hong Son. Affiliated with the Mahanikaya sect, Wat Ban Phae occupies a total area of 6.7 rai. The temple’s structures include monks’ residences (kuti), a multipurpose hall, and a principal Buddha image as its sacred object. It was established in 2474 BE (1931 CE). Between 2513 BE and 2517 BE (1970–1974 CE), the first village headman was appointed.
The administration and governance of Wat Ban Phae have seen several monks serve as its spiritual leaders. The first monk to reside at the temple was Phra Lao, followed in 2510 BE (1967 CE) by Phra Por as the second monk. Phra Chai served from 2517 BE to 2524 BE (1974–1981 CE). Phra Thaworn Thanissaro succeeded him and served from 2524 BE to 2529 BE (1981–1986 CE). Phra Damrong served from 2529 BE to 2530 BE (1986–1987 CE), and Phra Chatri served from 2530 BE to 2533 BE (1987–1990 CE). The current abbot, Phra Khru Anusit Ratanakun, has held the position since 2533 BE (1990 CE) and continues to serve the temple.
Currently, the temple has three monks affiliated with it. Wat Ban Phae is a center for meditation practice, education, and serves as a spiritual hub for the local community.
