Mae Sawan Noi Waterfall is a natural attraction located in Mae Sariang District, Mae Hong Son Province. It lies within the Mae Yuam Forest Reserve on the left bank and has been officially designated as a forest park by the Royal Forest Department on March 23, 1998, covering an area of approximately 2,812 rai.

 

This destination is ideal for travelers seeking authentic nature experiences in Mae Hong Son. The waterfall features clear water flowing throughout the year, surrounded by lush forests and a well-preserved ecosystem, making it a peaceful and refreshing escape from busy tourist spots.

 

The area is located in Moo 3, Mae Ho Subdistrict, Mae Sariang District, and serves as an important watershed for local rivers. The terrain consists of complex mountain ranges running north to south, with elevations reaching up to 1,098 meters above sea level. Most of the area has steep slopes, creating numerous streams that eventually form the waterfall.

 

The surrounding forest is rich in biodiversity, including dry evergreen forest and mixed deciduous forest. Visitors can find valuable plant species such as teak, dipterocarp trees, bamboo varieties, and rare medicinal plants like Andrographis paniculata and Tinospora crispa.

 

Wildlife in the area includes barking deer, wild boars, gibbons, civets, monitor lizards, and various bird species. Although some wildlife has declined due to past human activities, the forest still supports a diverse range of animals.

 

The overall atmosphere is quiet and natural, making Mae Sawan Noi Waterfall suitable for travelers who want to relax and connect with nature in a less crowded environment.

 

Getting There From Mae Sariang District, take Highway 108 (Mae Sariang–Hot route) for approximately 18 kilometers, then turn left into Mae Sawan Noi village and continue for another 3.5 kilometers. The total distance is about 21.5 kilometers. Alternatively, from Hot District in Chiang Mai, travel along Highway 108 and turn right at kilometer marker 85, with a total distance of about 88.5 kilometers.
