Su Sa Waterfall is one of the most unique natural attractions in Mae Hong Son, Thailand. Located in Ban Mae Su Ya, Huai Pha Subdistrict, Mueang Mae Hong Son District, this waterfall stands out due to its distinctive geological formation. Unlike typical waterfalls, the stream flows through a narrow rock crevice stretching approximately 100 meters, creating a continuous and powerful stream that runs parallel to the natural watercourse.

 

This waterfall is best described as a hidden gem deep within the forest, offering a raw and untouched natural experience. It is especially suitable for adventure travelers seeking something beyond conventional tourist destinations. The surrounding area is rich in biodiversity, covered with dense tropical forest and mountainous terrain, making it both a scenic and ecologically important site.

 

Accessing Su Sa Waterfall requires effort and preparation. Visitors can reach the site by trekking for about 3 hours from Ban Rung Arun, traveling by 4WD vehicle for approximately 1 hour, or rafting from Ban Nam Khong, which takes around 2 hours. Each route offers a different experience, ranging from trekking adventures to scenic river journeys.

 

The best time to visit is between July and January, when the waterfall is at its most beautiful. During the rainy season, the water flow is strong and impressive, while the cool season provides a pleasant climate ideal for exploration and relaxation.

 

Traveling to Mae Hong Son can be done via Highway 108 from Chiang Mai, covering about 349 kilometers, or via Highway 1095 through Pai, which is shorter at approximately 245 kilometers. Public buses and flights are also available, offering convenient access for both domestic and international travelers.
