Established in 1914, Wat Chom Chaeng later received its official boundary designation (Visungkhamsima) on February 3, 1997. It is affiliated with the Maha Nikaya sect and plays an important role in the religious life of the local community.
The temple’s most important highlight is Phra That Chom Chaeng, a sacred stupa that enshrines relics of the Buddha, particularly hair relics. According to local legend, the stupa was originally built around the year 1000 BE by four hermits, serving as a spiritual center for the people of Muang Yuam.
