The temple was originally built because the local villagers did not have a place for religious activities. A respected elder named Pho Thao Kalon led the villagers in constructing the temple, making it a central place for spiritual gatherings.

In 1973, severe flooding damaged the temple structures, forcing the community to rebuild it at a new location. The land was generously donated by Pho Chong Jareso, highlighting the strong community spirit and faith.

The architecture of Wat Huai Duea is influenced by Tai Yai art, with a simple yet elegant hall. The main Buddha image is modeled after the famous Phra Phuttha Chinnarat, attracting both locals and visitors.
