Wat Pang Lo Attractions in Mae Hong Son Chong Kham, Muang Mae Hong Son, Mae Hong Son. Wat Pang Lo is under the administration of the Maha Nikaya sect and covers an area of 5 rai, 2 ngan, and 14 square wah. The temple's boundaries are as follows: to the north, it is approximately 85 meters to Pang Lo Nikom Road; to the south, it is approximately 75 meters to a public road; and to the west, it is approximately 65 meters to private land.
Wat Pang Lo was established in 1890 by Phra Kru Metha, the abbot of the temple, and local residents who contributed to the construction. The origin of the temple’s name, “Pang Lo,” comes from the fact that people often brought carts to the temple and stayed for extended periods. As a result, locals started calling it "Wat Pang Lo," and the name has remained ever since.
The architecture of the temple reflects Burmese or Tai Yai style, with intricate "tai" patterns carved from tin and used for the roof. The roof is built in about five layers, with a Burmese Buddha image placed at the top, which was transported from Myanmar along the Pai River. Later, the local community invited several Buddha images to the temple, including one large Buddha image, six medium-sized Buddha images, and four smaller Buddha images, all brought from Bangkok.
In 1985, a stupa in the Burmese "tai" style was built, with a seven-tiered spire. In 1996, a new ordination hall was constructed, and in 2005, a shrine for the Buddha images representing the days of the week was built at the entrance of the temple.
Important features of the temple include the stupa, constructed in 1985, which has a seven-tiered spire and reflects a blend of Tai Yai and Burmese architectural styles. The ordination hall, built in 1996, follows the same Tai Yai and Burmese architectural style. The Buddha images are designed in the Burmese style, and the Buddha images representing the days of the week were installed at the temple entrance in 2005.
The temple grounds are always kept clean, and the entire temple, including its architecture and design, reflects a strong Burmese influence. The temple has five tiers in its design.
