According to local history, Wat Nong Ngueak was first initiated in 1828 when a villager named Nai Chai wanted to establish a temple for Ban Nong Ngueak, as the village did not yet have its own religious center. He consulted Khruba Parami, who later presided over the construction. The temple was completed in 1829 and was named after the village. Khruba Parami became the temple’s first abbot.

 

The temple’s value lies not only in its age, but also in the way it represents the relationship between Buddhism, local artisanship, and village identity. The stucco decoration at the entrance arch shows the skill of local craftsmen, while the scripture hall reflects the importance of preserving Buddhist teachings in traditional temple architecture.
