Wat Nam Dip is located at 183 Ban Nam Dip, Nam Dip Subdistrict, Pa Sang District, Lamphun Province. It is affiliated with the Mahanikaya sect. The temple occupies a land area of 7 rai, 1 ngan, and 20 square wah, under title deed number 12713.
The northern boundary is approximately 132 meters adjacent to private land. The southern boundary is approximately 80 meters adjacent to a public road. The eastern boundary is approximately 90 meters adjacent to the San Hang Suea–Tha Li road, and the western boundary is approximately 106 meters adjacent to a public road. The temple also has two plots of ecclesiastical land covering an area of 13 rai, 3 ngan, and 85 square wah under title deed number 11960.
The monastic structures within the temple include an ubosot (ordination hall), vihara, sermon hall, and scripture library. Sacred items housed at the temple include the principal Buddha image in the ubosot, which is cast in brass, the principal Buddha image in the vihara, which is made of brick and plaster, and sacred Buddha relics.
Wat Nam Dip was established in 2430 BE (1887 CE) by Pao Ai and Mae Pa Rong Chaiyawari, who donated the land for its construction. The temple was constructed under the leadership of the local headman. Upon completion, Phra Kang from Wat Huai Or was invited to reside there. The temple received its consecrated boundary (Visungkhamsima) on October 30, 2479 BE (1936 CE), with the boundary dimensions measuring 40 by 40 meters.
The administration of the temple has been overseen by several abbots. The first was Phra Kang, who served from 1887 to 1892 CE. He was succeeded by Phra Saen Nakseno, who served from 1897 to 1902 CE, and then by Phra Kawichai Kawichai, who served from 1902 to 1917 CE. Phra Thep Wong served from 1922 to 1934 CE, followed by Phra Khru Kitivedh Wichai, who served from 1939 to 1963 CE. The current abbot, Phra Khru Sunthorn Sitthitham, has been serving since 1964 CE.
