Wat Ko Kha is a community temple located in Tha Tum Subdistrict, Pa Sang District, Lamphun Province. It reflects the strong faith of local villagers who worked together to restore an abandoned temple and transform it into a functioning religious center. The temple is particularly meaningful as a symbol of community cooperation and rural Buddhist life in northern Thailand.

The temple is situated at 180 Moo 2, Ban Nong Bua, Tha Tum Subdistrict, Pa Sang District, Lamphun. It belongs to the Maha Nikaya sect and covers an area of 4 rai, 2 ngan, and 53 square wah. An additional land plot is designated as monastic land, showing long-term planning for religious use and sustainability.

The temple was established in 1912 (B.E. 2455). Originally, the area was an abandoned temple site covered with large trees. Phra Duangdee, a monk residing at Wat Ngat Makab Tong, recognized the difficulty villagers faced in traveling long distances for religious activities. He relocated to this site and encouraged approximately 30 households to clear the land and rebuild the temple.

This origin story highlights the importance of Buddhism in rural communities and demonstrates how temples serve as both spiritual and social centers. The temple continues to function as a place for merit-making, religious ceremonies, and community gatherings.

Important structures within the temple include the ubosot, viharn, sermon hall, monks’ residences, and other supporting buildings. Sacred objects include various Buddha images and a chedi, which serve as focal points for worship and religious devotion.

The temple has had several abbots over time, starting with Phra Duangdee, followed by Phra Athikan Kaew, Phra Khru Khammoon Mongkhalo, and Phra Athikan Thaworn Thawaro. This succession reflects continuity in religious leadership and the temple’s role in guiding the community.

Getting There is convenient from Lamphun city via Highway 106 (Lamphun–Pa Sang Road), then entering Tha Tum Subdistrict toward Ban Nong Bua. The temple is located within a local community area and is easily accessible by car or motorcycle.
