Wat Mae Hat was established in 2419 BE. According to the temple's history, it was originally an abandoned site. The local villagers used to go to the Wat Ban Pang in Li District for religious activities. However, by 2514 BE, with the growth of the village, the village committee, teachers, students, the village headman, and all the villagers gathered for discussions and decided to restore the abandoned temple and establish a permanent presence of monks so they could continue to offer their religious services and carry out merit-making activities, which continues to this day.
