Wat Ban Hong Luang Ban Hong, Ban Hong, Lamphun. Wat Ban Hong Luang, affiliated with the Maha Nikaya Buddhist sect, occupies 6 rai and 49 square wah of land, registered under title deed numbers 6280 and 6281, with an additional plot of donated land measuring 1 rai, 2 ngan, and 66 square wah.
The temple features a vihara, stupa, sermon hall, monk residences, and a building for Buddhist studies. The principal Buddha statue in the vihara, named Phra Phuttha Mongkhon, is a gilded brick and stucco statue. The temple also contains scripture cabinets and bookcases decorated with gold leaf lacquerwork.
Established in 1776 (B.E. 2319), the temple received its official boundary (wisungkhamsima) on February 1, 1955 (B.E. 2498), with a designated area of 40 meters in width and length. It was recognized as an exemplary development model by the Department of Religious Affairs in 1980 (B.E. 2523) and awarded a development certificate in 1986 (B.E. 2529).
The temple’s abbots have been Kruba Som Samano (1870–1910), Kruba Chaiya (1910–1918), Phra Khru Sila Aphorn Phimon (1918–1974), and Phra Khru Adul Thammanit (1974–present).
The temple serves as the location for a Buddhist studies school. The Dhamma section was established in 1932 (B.E. 2475), the Pali section in 1939 (B.E. 2482), and the general studies section in 1972 (B.E. 2515). The Sunday Buddhist Studies Center was opened in 1981 (B.E. 2524).
In addition, the temple houses a library and museum and functions as a center for various educational and cultural projects, including the Hariphunchai Learning Center, the Lan Bun Lan Panya (Merit and Wisdom Plaza) project, the Buddhist Welfare Unit, and the Thai Cultural Community Network project.
