According to the History of Temples Across the Kingdom, Volume 9, the temple was established in 1732 (B.E. 2275) and received royal recognition of its boundary (Wisungkhamsima) in 1995 (B.E. 2538). There are no records indicating who founded the temple. However, according to local elders, Wat Ban Thi Luang was the first temple established in Ban Thi Subdistrict. In earlier times, villagers would gather at this temple for religious ceremonies. Over time, other temples were constructed to make it more convenient for people to travel.
