The first structures included monks’ quarters, toilets, and one viharn. Phra Singkham Suvaṇṇo stayed and helped build the temple for more than 20 rainy-season retreats before later leaving the monkhood.

 

After that period, several monks and abbots continued to serve the temple. In 1992, Wat Thung Pet was officially elevated to legal temple status. This was an important milestone for the community because it confirmed the temple’s place in the Buddhist administration and strengthened its role as the religious center of Ban Thung Pet.

 

Today, Wat Thung Pet is led by Phra Khru Sunan Kitjathon Sunanto, the abbot of the temple. The temple continues to support merit-making on Buddhist holy days, community ceremonies, local religious events, funeral rites, and other Buddhist activities. It remains closely tied to the everyday life of the people of Ban Thung Pet.
