The history of Darul Ameen Mosque begins with the pioneering settlement of Haji Haron Mimma in B.E. 2492. He was the first to purchase land near the present mosque area and move his family there. This is an important part of the mosque’s story because it shows that the mosque grew directly from the real settlement and collective effort of Muslim families building a new local community together.

 

Among the key figures in the early development of the community were Haji Ali Romalee, a former imam of Masjid Deenul Islam, and Haji Muhammad Noor Romalee, a former imam of Masjid Khoiriyatul Islamiyah, together with about 10 founding families. Their role makes it clear that Darul Ameen Mosque did not emerge in isolation. In B.E. 2500, the first mosque building was constructed. The founding committee purchased 100 square wah of land from Haji Muhammad Noor Romalee, while Haji Dawud Minburi donated a house so that its wood and materials could be reused in the construction. The first building was a 2-story wooden structure with a hipped roof, about 8 meters wide and 10 meters long. The upper floor was used for daily religious practice, while the lower open floor served as a multi-purpose area for youth education, meetings, and wider community activities.

 

This first building is significant because it reflects the practical and community-based nature of the mosque’s origins. It was not designed as a monumental religious complex. Instead, it was built as a functional place where worship, education, and communal decision-making could happen together. That kind of beginning still shapes the identity of the mosque today.

 

On 20 February B.E. 2502, Darul Ameen Mosque was officially registered as the 8th mosque in Samut Prakan Province. This gave the mosque formal legal and religious recognition and established it clearly within the province’s Islamic institutional network. On 10 February B.E. 2503, the mosque sign was officially inaugurated by former Chularatchamontri Tuan Suwannasat, which added further significance to the mosque’s early development.

 

Beyond worship, the mosque has long played a major educational role. From the early period onward, the lower level of the building was used for youth religious instruction on weekends, as well as for regular Islamic study sessions for the wider public. Scholars and speakers were invited to provide religious teaching, making the mosque an active center of learning and moral formation within the community. This educational role remains one of the mosque’s strongest defining features.

 

In B.E. 2535, Surin Romalee, also known as Haji Umar Romalee, became imam after the passing of Haji Muhammad Noor Romalee. Later that same period, the community organized a major fundraising event known as Ruam Namjai Hai Darul to support the construction of a new mosque building. That event is an important example of how strongly the local congregation remained connected to the mosque and willing to sustain it collectively.

 

Current official information lists the present mosque leadership as Chatchawal Romalee serving as imam, Suphot Romalee serving as khatib, and Prasan Romalee serving as bilal. This continuity of leadership within the local community reflects the mosque’s stable institutional character and its enduring place in Bang Chalong’s Muslim life.
