The Royal Handwriting Monument, also known as the Ancient Site of Royal Inscription, is located within the Royal Handwriting Public Park (Suan Lai Phrahat Sri Maha Phot) in Nong Phrong Subdistrict, Si Maha Phot District, Prachinburi Province. The site is managed by Muang Kao Municipality and the Muang Kao Subdistrict Administrative Organization.

This monument is highly significant, both historically and culturally, as it preserves the royal handwriting of King Chulalongkorn (King Rama V). During his royal visit to Prachinburi in 1908 (B.E. 2451), he inscribed the characters “จ.ป.ร. 41 / R.S. 127” on a laterite stone block dating back to the 12th–13th Buddhist centuries (Lopburi period).

Since then, a pavilion has been constructed to protect the inscription, with several renovations carried out over the years. Today, the surrounding area has been developed into a serene public park where both locals and visitors can relax, study history, and participate in commemorative activities. Special events have also been held here, such as the 112th Anniversary and 115th Anniversary of the Royal Handwriting, featuring exhibitions and ceremonies honoring the King’s legacy.

The monument represents a unique cultural bridge, linking the Lopburi era with the Rattanakosin era through a rare combination of an ancient artifact and royal handwriting. Recognizing its value, the Fine Arts Department officially registered the site as a national historical monument in 1981 (B.E. 2524).

Getting to the Royal Handwriting Monument is straightforward. From the Si Maha Phot District Office, drive about 1.5 kilometers towards Ban Khok Khwang, and you will find the site located near the entrance to Loom Muang. The park provides convenient parking and a tranquil atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for sightseeing, learning, and photography. Nearby attractions include Loom Muang Archaeological Site, Phan Hin Ancient Site, and several historical temples within the district.
