Kung Krabaen Bay Royal Development Study Center located in Chanthaburi Province, plays a crucial role in researching, studying, and developing sustainable coastal areas. The center focuses on development that aligns with the local geography and ecological systems, particularly the conservation of mangrove forests. These forests are vital natural resources that maintain ecological balance and support biodiversity in the region. The center has implemented various projects to allow the public, students, and visitors to explore and understand the mangrove ecosystem up close. One of the most prominent projects is the Mangrove Nature Study Walkway at Kung Krabaen Bay, designed to provide an immersive educational experience for all visitors.

The Mangrove Nature Study Walkway is located directly opposite the Kung Krabaen Bay Royal Development Study Center. The trail is approximately 1,600 meters long and can be completed in 30 to 45 minutes. Along the route, interpretive signs provide information about the natural environment, local food sources, and medicinal plants used by nearby communities. Walking along this trail allows visitors to understand how various mangrove species interact and support each other, maintaining a balanced and productive ecosystem.

Notable examples of mangrove plants include the Sea Lumnitzera (Lamphu), which grows well in sandy soil and accumulates sediment, preparing the ground for other plants to thrive. White Mangrove (Lam) can be used as firewood, and its heartwood, when boiled with the bark of Sesbania (Sesban), can help purify menstrual blood in women. The bark of Kraphi is used as an antidote for snake venom, and smoke from burning the Sea Tamarind tree (Tatum) has been traditionally used to treat leprosy. These examples illustrate how the mangrove forest provides both ecological and practical benefits to humans.

The center is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Group visits require prior arrangement to ensure appropriate guidance and support. The center also provides accommodations for government agencies conducting training or seminars, which can be booked in advance by contacting +66 3936 9216-8 or fax +66 3936 9219. Visiting the center offers not only an educational experience about mangrove ecosystems but also fosters environmental awareness and encourages the sustainable use of natural resources.

Visitors can gain a deep understanding of the mangrove forest, from its ecological significance to the practical uses of its plants. The study walkway and related activities enhance knowledge of local biodiversity and provide a unique opportunity to experience conservation in action. This makes the Kung Krabaen Bay Royal Development Study Center an ideal destination for students, families, researchers, and anyone interested in environmental preservation and traditional medicinal plants. The visit is both educational and enriching, offering insight into one of Chanthaburi’s most precious natural resources while promoting responsible interaction with the environment.
