Kaeng Hin Phoeng is located in Saphan Hin Subdistrict, Na Di District, Prachinburi Province. It is one of the most outstanding adventure destinations in Eastern Thailand. The Sai Yai River flows through layers of sandstone, forming rapids and beautiful rock terraces. During the rainy season, the current becomes strong and continuous, making it ideal for exciting and challenging rafting activities.
The best time for rafting is July–November, as this is the rainy season with sufficient water volume to create continuous rapids. Outside of this season, the water level drops, revealing wide rock terraces suitable for nature walks and photography instead of rafting.
The rapids are under the responsibility of Khao Yai National Park, Protection Unit 9 (Sai Yai). Park officers help ensure safety. Local operators provide complete equipment such as life jackets, helmets, rafts, and experienced guides who accompany visitors throughout the rafting trip.
The rafting route is generally about 2–2.5 kilometers long, passing through several major rapids: Hin Phoeng Rapids, Wang Nam Lom Rapids, Wang Bon Rapids, Luk Suea Rapids, Wang Sai Rapids, and Ngu Hao Rapids. The trip takes about 1.5–2 hours per round. Each raft can hold around 8–10 people, making it suitable for groups of friends, families who love adventure, and outdoor enthusiasts.
The difficulty level of the rapids is around Grade 3–5 (moderate to high). Participants should be in good health, follow guides’ instructions closely, wear quick-dry clothing and water-grip shoes, and secure valuables before getting on the raft.
How to get there: Take Highway 304 (Kabin Buri–Nakhon Ratchasima). From Km.11, turn and continue about 25 kilometers to the park unit (Khao Yai Protection Unit 9). From there, walk about 2.5 kilometers (around 45 minutes) to the rafting starting point. For public transport, it is recommended to reach Na Di District town first, then arrange transfer services with local tour operators offering rafting packages.
In addition to rafting, visitors can enjoy camping, trekking, zip-lining, or kayaking with local operators. Many offer “all-in-one” packages including accommodation, meals, transport, and activities, making trip planning convenient. During weekends and rainy season when it is busy, advance booking is recommended.
